Just back from holidays and eager to dive back into those healthy routines... and then Metallica is rocking out in your hometown! What do you do??? Well, we always aim to give it our all; but hey, sometimes plans change. So, for our pre-Metallica dinner, the plan was to enjoy some slow-cooked sausages (check out our previous blog for the recipe!) paired with a delicious avocado and bean salad—thanks to our newfound love for beans and their amazing benefits. But with all the pre-concert excitement, that plan didn't quite pan out! The intention was there, but you know how life goes, right? We ended up munching on chips—the perfect snack while jamming to Evanescence and eagerly waiting for Metallica to rock the stage at Adelaide Oval!
Despite not eating pre concert its not like we want to Fade to Black or anything...
Alright, let's jump into the thrilling world of greens—the salad hasn't run away yet and is eagerly awaiting your taste buds, so here it comes...
Ingredients
1 x can black beans
2 x Avocado (chopped into squares)
lime juice (to taste)
Dijon Mustard (to taste)
Salt and Pepper (to taste)
Method
Mix all together
Serve up!

Conclusion
Get ready to whip up a fantastic, diabetes-friendly side dish that's not only healthy but incredibly easy to prepare! This salad features all the superstar ingredients frequently recommended for diabetes-friendly cooking. One standout component is Dijon mustard, celebrated for its low carbohydrate content, ensuring your blood sugar stays steady. Excitingly, the Diabetes Council (2021) highlights a clinical trial showing mustard extract's impressive ability to lower glucose levels in those with Type 2 Diabetes. When scientists rave about it, you know it's something special! https://www.thediabetescouncil.com/5-ways-mustard-helps-with-diabetes-plus-some-cooking-tips/

So, this real-life CGM reading was taken the day after the Metallica concert and has absolutely nothing to do with that virtuous salad we mentioned earlier. Nope, this is all about the blood sugar rollercoaster that happens when you decide chips are a suitable dinner option! As you can see, there's a spike—shocking, right? But hey, we're back on track today and always striving to make better choices when we're not headbanging to metal! Because Nothing Else Matters more than your health...

This is a great meal!… But it really should come with a warning of sorts. After the first few mouthfuls, against my will, my head began to nod with at first gradual, yet increasing aggression. Almost in rhythm to an imagined thump of a double-kick & snare combination. Strange indeed. Next, was the overwhelming discomfort, almost nausea experienced by any kind of colour or shade, that happened to be touching my skin. This soon resulted in a compulsion to immediately shed and replace my attire with a pair of skintight black jeans, a black t, a black denim jacket, & a pair of dr martins ankle highs (black).
As I digested more, perhaps the most unnerving symptom presented. I…
